Endurance Riders

Endurance and Long Distance Equine Disciplines

Hello!

I was wondering how many of you ride endurance with boots on your horse(s). And also with what kind of boot?

This winter I started experimenting with the Easyboots but my horse lost 1 to 3 boots every ride. He has a short back and without boots he doesn't catch his fronthooves, but with boots and on softer grounds he does. Very frustrating... I started with only frontboots and lost them. So I put in shorter backstraps. But at the same time I bought boots for the other two hooves and the new problem of kicking them off arrived.

For next winter I'm going to try the Easyboot Epics on the front hooves hoping he does'nt kick them off anymore. For now I've put him on Hippoflex plastic shoeing ( www.hippoflex.de ). I don't want to lose boots during a competition.

Maybe the Renegades are a better option for next winter to try, but there more expensive and that's quit a risk.

If anywone want's to share experiance I would be greatful!

Thanks!

well i use the easy boots. they work great for me and my horse but it sounds like you were using the easyboot with out the gaiter and that is most likely why it can off since the mud sucks them off. i would try the epics, edges, or bares. I have looked at the renegades and i was thinking of swithing over but just don't have the monye .good luck.
to look up more on easyboots. http://www.easycareinc.com

Hi Cindy, In the Netherlands the Renegades are almost twice as expensive as in the USA. Here 2 shoes cost 210! euro's. About 290 dollar...

Sabrina, yes I was using the easyboots without the gaiters. Next winter I will try with gaiters. The mud wasn't the problem, but the friction with the ground was. And later as I wrote the back hooves with boots. In oktober the hippoflex, or Cera Endurance as they are now called ( http://www.cera24.com/english/produkte.php?lang=ENG&SeitenID=10 ) come of and I will try the boots again..
