I renamed a great horse. named windy ,the problem I had with it was it was a gelding! Everyone thought I was riding a mare. After owning him for a very short time he always stomped the trailer floor boards as if to be checking to make sure they were all intact. he would look back with the kindest eyes snort as if to say its ok to come in. So wihile talking to him one day out on the trail it hit "stompin stormer" he beacme Stormer. To me he was always stompin Stormer. The greatest horse I have ever had the honor of riding.
I recently bought a horse that was named Killarny, and the owner called him Killer. She sold him because he was too difficult for her to ride, he reared, he bucked, he kicked horses and people, and he scared her to death.
I re-named him Superb, and we call him Super. What a difference a name makes! He has not reared since we got him, he has only tried to kick a few times early on, and doesn't kick any more, and he is going extremely well. I told her when I bought him that I would be changing his name to Superb, and she said that she hoped it would make a difference. IT HAS! He is a great horse, with a great future!
Jay, Keith reminded me of our friends horse named c-4. Who was bought by a very basic rider who named him Puff and how that changed him. True to his name he is just a great Puff Ball! cole
I got a horse named Fox. Wasn't liked in the stables because when you went out to the pasture he would canter up to you. People thought that was threatening!. I renamed him Fidel, as in short for Fidelity. Now when he canters up, people thimk, "Boy! Is he loyal!"
