Flora's Track-Logs look like a horse!!

31 Days of Endurance Maddness! Ride as many horses and as many miles as you possibly can or want to for the month of March. Log your miles on the virtual vet card to for the chance to win a t-shirt for your efforts! (and if you don't win, you can always buy one:)
To register for the ride, join this group. You will, in time, receive an invitation to your vet card. Don't loose it as it will be used for all the rest of your VVRides.

Track logs can be upload by adding a reply to the TrackLogs discussion and then pasting the resulting URL into your vet card. Tracklogs converted to GoogleEarth.kmz files are prefered

If you don't really understand the above, then you might consider joining a team. Teams have secretaries that take care of you on the ride:)

You can keep a blog of your ride on your my-endurance profile page (My Page). Some examples are:

* a list of past VVRide blog posts

The Very Virtual Ride Rules will help you understand the competition rules. In overview, they are: *A Picture of a Napikin with the Rules written on it".

Remember, the start of the VVMarchMaddness ride is:

Sunrise 01Mar2009 - any miles after than, you should log
Sunset 31Mar2009 - (Generally there are 48 hours post finish to get everyone to log their miles)

have fun:)

Well, I downloaded the new google earth last night (so I can download my GPS Whoohoo!). I think I set to start (except I haven't gotten my vet card?).

It's really too bad my 65 miler at 20 Mule team isn't going to count :(

Lonni - What I did for the 2008 VVMM is to upload my data to both motionbased and also GoogleEarth. On GoogleEarth I download the track photo and then put it on my website with all the data listed underneath. You can see it here:
http://aurigafarm.com/photos/VVMM-Endurance-March2008/MarchMadness.html

I saved all the ride tracks so that I could submit them in bulk to John if he wanted them, but I guess with my weekly blogs and track logs online in two places, John was happy with that being enough for verification.

Our Virginia team is set with myself, Karen Bohn, Barbara Horstmeier (who is building her new place in Fort Valley even as we speak) and Larry Tumblin.

The way I see it is: the goal of the team is to give members the opportunity to get together for rides to enjoy the fellowship of each other's trails, share technology information, endurance techniques and strategy, as well as give our horses a chance to work in company without the stress of competition.

Not sure how John is going to set up (if he is, that is!) a category that will recognize teams, or if we'll just have to play it off the cuff. :-)

make that:

"reuse of track-logs is completely FINE" - jt

Jonni, reuse of track-logs is completely find. To do that, you need to make sure you have ONE track-log for each of your training loops (or ride loops) available in .kmz format so that you can just reuse it.

If you do a new loop, you'll have to get a .kmz version of it b/f it counts. (Note: it will be fine, during the course of an event to enter the track-logs later than the loop data. I've found I can just do the ride, take the CRI and physical parameters and enter those then. (p.s. I'll make a form for you which will just allow you to enter the data:)

Do the track-logs at your pleasure. Note that the new google earth will just read your track-logs directly from your GPS w/o problem. Talk to your team secretary!

So, since I am cheap, and have not done a paid for Motionbased acct., it drops rides into not being able to view the map motion as I add more newer tracks. Sooo, if I ride lots in March, could be a chance some of those early March rides, will drop into viewing the stats / numbers only. That OK John? And did I just make any sense? lol
