Not that The Duck ever "needs" defending and I honestly don't know his personal reason, BUT many events consider their tracks and way points to belong to them or their organization. It's a tremendous amount of time, money and effort to lay out way point tracks the way Nicholson does. Several bicycle and motorcycle event organizers have you sign something saying you will not share those way points since YOU had to pay for them and they don't want others to get them for free. I absolutely see both sides. Just sharing some thoughts. Cindy

Angie -

My thoughts exactly. Why forbid? On the outside chance-- maybe some of the trail went across private land that the landowner (or title holder) didn't want publicized for whatever reason? Or did this ride take place all on public lands?

Ok, so I have until Thurs. to figure out how to get my vet card to open so I can put all my riding in. I was able to make a copy of the vet card in Google Docs and then put my info onto that one. Sooooooo..... how do I get the copied card to you or make it public? Thanks

How can somebody legitimize forbidding the publication of tracks? What reason, other than the obvious, could there be?

Ha...we'll never tell how much we paid the Duck to prevent you from winning :)))

I'm back. I sent you all a message - have not read through all these comments yet, but thanks everyone for helping out. We went to Death Valley and then work got me....

So we'll close up on Thursday evening, that means that any miles/logs etc. you got done b/f sunset on the 3rd have to be recored by thursday eve.

(p.s. I did 150 miles at DVE - figured I was a ringer to win the VVClassic, but there was a new XP ride rule - no publication of the track logs - kinda put the kibosh on my 150 miles:(

The VV Ride was so fun. I didn't get to log any info. in yet, but it was fun seeing where I rode and how my horses enjoyed it. I took my new horse out on the trails and LOVE him even more now. My primary horse enjoyed seeing new things and learning that it wasn't always about speed (we had to go SLOW because of all the mud- ha ha) I can't wait to do this again. I had never logged my rides in and looked at them on Google Earth. Pretty cool !!!!

Hi Cindy, thanks for trying to help me with my vet card. I just spent another hour playing with it and no, there is nothing that I can do that makes a difference. I'm sure it will all work out fine. I'm having fun trying

I've decided that trying to do a VV ride and babysit a bunch of riding tourists is a fast track to the nut house. Maybe when I get this tourism stuff down pat.

April, if you are signed in to Google Docs and if you have opened the vet card attachment John sent you, did you also click on a little tab on the upper right side of the vet card...I wish I could recall what it says, it disappears once you've clicked on it, but it is the tab that allows you to write on your vet card...I want to say it says "own," but that may not be it. I'm sure John will help you shortly. Cindy
