New Awards Patches

Is there a need/desire for new 1000 mile awards? Are there any ideas out there about what they may be?

This group is sponsoring a design contest the NEW 1000MILE distance patch. Like a nicotine patch, it will allow you to ease off your endurance habbit until, when you have accumulated maybe 15-20 of the patches, you will totally be too bunged up to ride:(

To submit a design, upload the image to the (yet to be created)Patches photo album:)

Best of Luck!!

You can't change the design now - too many people have them! I just got my 23rd patch and if you changed it, nothing would match!

Hey Cindy - if you write and ask AERC they might send you another round patch. They did for me, once I expained that I put the first one on a saddle pack along with my mileage patches which all wore out and I started on a new one. They were pretty nice about it, I guess they understand that when you ride thousands of miles things wear out. :)

Well, being a "wannabe" girlscout (never stayed long caused I thought the BOYS got all the fun stuff...our girls group did BORING stuff, so I quit...)
I love the idea of patches. I am posting a pic of what I did. Sewed them to the back of a fleece vest (was last years AERC points award I think) and can wear it as layers in many weather conditions and wear it around home/work all the time. I wish only that the milage patches would be a tad more consistant, esp in direction...I had a bugger of a time getting that "upsidedown" 2000 to fit...had to take some of them off and redo the whole bottom row...sighhh...But yes, having "special" patches for milestones would be neat.
Cindy...I bet if you called AERC they could send you a new "round" patch...

I'm all for an update. Actually, I think at "steps" like 5,000 and 10,000 there should be something special like a vest or jacket. I lost my original AERC round patch that's supposed to go with them probably 15 years ago :) So, it would be nice if it said AERC or endurance somewhere on the mileage patches. I have absolutely zero talent at design, so I'll defer to others to submit ideas. Cindy

I like the current design although should have AERC somewhere as outsiders (non END. Types) may wonder if they are for walking, boating, running, climbing, ...you get the idea also think the 10,000 and up ones should just say Way Too Many Miles...
