First a big Thanks to Susan Young for putting on this ride and a HUGE Thanks to Dr. Baldwin for letting them move the ride to his ranch when the trails at Lake Oolagah became unusable due to flood control. Dr. Baldwin invited us up to the house to s…

Its off to Washburn Missouri next weekend to do the Jo Tate Memorial. Kinda fitting since that was the last ride I did, 19 years ago. Wow, time flies. So GRay is going to do the 35 miler Saturday with the plan being to elevator up to the 50 if he's…

Hi Jan, We've had to deliver horses several times across the Mojave Desert in Southern California during the summer. With temps in the upper 90s to 115, heat is a consideration. Twicew we've had to cross during the day due to customer scheduling. We…

Hotter Than Hell, Lake Oolagah Ride

First a big Thanks to Susan Young for putting on this ride and a HUGE Thanks to Dr. Baldwin for letting them move the ride to his ranch when the trails at Lake Oolagah became unusable due to flood control. Dr. Baldwin invited us up to the house to swim in the pool after the ride was over. Wow, now that's the way every ride should end the day.

Hotter Than Hell it was not with temps hovering in the upper 80s. Who'd of thought in the middle of July we'd be seeing 50s in the morning. Long sleeves w… Continue

Ready or not? Not!

GRay was ready. I was almost ready. The hoofware was most assuredly not!

The Jo Tate Memorial was good fun and an excellent trial for our hoof boots. As I told Dr. Self when we were vetting in the evening before the ride, we were breaking a cardinal rule of endurance riding trying some new boots that we hadn't worked with at home.

We had used easyboots at home and had done quite well with them on the back feet (easyboot epics w/ gators) but had not been able to come up with an easyboot that wo… Continue

Ready or not, here we go

Its off to Washburn Missouri next weekend to do the Jo Tate Memorial. Kinda fitting since that was the last ride I did, 19 years ago. Wow, time flies.

So GRay is going to do the 35 miler Saturday with the plan being to elevator up to the 50 if he's feeling good at 35. It will be a slow and steady for him since this will be his first try.

We're going out for a short ride today, just to keep limber, and as soon as his Renegades get here we'll take a short ride to make sure they're going to work.… Continue

Spring is here, sorta??

The days are getting longer. We finally have daylight in the evenings when I get home. The temps are coming up to the point its comfortable to ride again. And Dude started shedding last weekend. I guess coming from Wyoming he thinks its almost summer. Daylight savings starts next weekend too.

LSD rides have been ongoing, though sporadic, up until now. The horses are almost to a point to do a decent LD. I'm not so sure about the riders though.

Eagle Ranch is the first weekend in April and we're… Continue

Central Region Convention time

We're off to the AERC Central Region Convention in Muskogee this weekend. Time to go down and get fired up about the Spring rides. Then on Feb. 7th the MOTDRA Annual meeting for another peptalk plus Angie McGhee is coming north to entertain us!!

We sold one of our horses last night in spite of the fact that there was something in the air and the equidae in our area were all being idiots. I could see it in Dude's eyes when we were getting ready to tack up. Its funny how once you get to know them… Continue
