About Me:
Endurance addict, I am struggling to really get in sync with another horse after losing my "wonder" horse late last year. I have a barn full of youngsters so I am having fun seeing which I can develop the best relationship with. I have been riding the almost full brother to my wonder horse and things are coming along nicely but he still has his"psycho horse" moments. I started cross-breeding my own endurance horse prospects for the last 5 years but the oldest are not yet old enough to compete so still waiting to see the results.

Hi Fellow Riders,
Anyone else going to the Clinton Anderson clinic this coming weekend in Lexington, VA? I am along with a girlfriend and my 18 year old daughter. If any other endurance riders are planning on going maybe we can get together and go to dinner for a nice visit.
Megan I kind of figure you won't be able to come but I'm sure your are really familiar with your home town boy Clinton and what a terrific horseman he is. Just read a big article about him in Western Horseman about a colt st… Continue

Winter!!

Well, its winter and it is COLD! I live in Virginia and it is 21 degrees outside and breezy. Not real motivated to go out and play with horses today. Much nicer to stay inside where its warm and watch them play and eat their new big hay rolls. I have to work the next 4 days so maybe it will be better by then. Got out and rode about 4 hours on this past Saturday, then took the rest of the day to warm up. Not riding very fast right now either as horse just coming back from abscess in his heel. It… Continue

Hey Becky,

I added some photos. Yeh we will be at Sandhills. You probably know Johnny better than me. He does the riding and I do the crewing. Maybe one day I will be doing the riding too.

Oh, Becky
I am so sorry to hear about Elektric's passing. I was looking forward to meeting him. I will look up the post you mentioned and read about him. It must have been devastating for you and your daughter. I hope to see you on one of your young horses soon.

My mare, Kazi, is part Russian, descended from Aswan on her top line. Polish on her bottom line. I trained her using John Lyons and Clinton Anderson info, but she foundered badly and we have been fighting that ever since. So I got Ivan to train to ride last year. He is an unregistered Arab whose former owner twice removed has disappeared after getting married and I can't get any details on his heritage. His breeder owned both the dam and sire, sold the dam and moved away shortly afterwards. My friend bought the dam without knowing she was pregnant and had a surprise foal, Ivan, about the same time she had a baby boy. So she did nothing with Ivan for three years but feed and give basic care to him. Ivan was born during Hurricane Ivan. At 14hh, she thought he was too small for her or her football player sized husband, so I took him on. He is fine for me, I am 5'2" and like shorter horses! Ivan was extremely wild when I got him, but is getting sweeter and easier to handle all the time. He seems to like working with me....after some rather interesting times initially. We have some bugs to work out, but I am hoping he will be a good trail riding and endurance horse for me.
I will look for your bandanna next Saturday! It will be great to meet you! .....Diane

Hi Becky,
great to hear from you! Are you still riding Elektric? I was wondering if he was one of the Asgard horses since his name was similar to theirs. I'll go to their website and look for your photo. Otherwise, I am not sure how I will recognize you at the Clinton clinic! Do you still ride him at endurance rides? Your post to me sounded like that might be in the past. I am the newby of the newbiest, but am sooo looking forward to riding Ivan at these rides. I suspect that the Va Highlands ride will be our debut since he will be within a month of turning 5 then. I will be wearing a pink Clinton Anderson cap next weekend on Saturday and be with my husband, Donnie, and several of our local horse club members. Hope to see you!!......Diane

Hi Becky,
I just found your 'invite friend' post, I haven't been on in awhile, sorry to take so long to answer. Where is Sumerduck? I am in SW Va, about, 50 miles down I-81 from Roanoke. Yes, that is some Parelli type work in my photos, but I like John Lyons and Clinton Anderson a bit better for training my young Arab, Ivan. The weather has been so terrible, poor Ivan thinks we have given up working, but that will change soon, I hope! I will be at the Clinton Anderson tour stop in Lexington, Va next weekend. Will you be there?......Diane

Hi Becky - I got your message - that would be great if we could ride together sometime! I have cabin fever. We live in Berryville and sometimes go to Sky Meadows and around in that area to train. We haven't ridden since Ft Valley ...

My horses are Australian Walers. They were originally bred as the remounts for the Australian army and covered themselves in glory during the first world war mainly in the middle east. If you have heard of the charge of the light brigade at Beersheeba, that was the Aussie army mounted on my horses ancestors. But most people ride arabs including my husband.

Hi Becky, That photo is taken at a place called 'the steps' that you have to go up and down on different days during Shahzada. Shahzada is a 5 day ride of 400kms (250 miles). It is similar to your multi-day rides but you must enter the full distance and ride the same horse for all of it. Very testing, but great fun.
