About Me:
I live in the coal region of north-eastern Pa. This is where I do all of my conditioning. The trails are awesome around here. All though we do have more than our share of rocks. I try to ride at least 2 to 4 times a week.
I have recently been turned on to "barefoot", and have removed shoes from both my horses and learned to trim them myself. I can't wait to start the 2010 season barefoot.

I welcome anyone living near by to come and ride the trails with me.......

Rabbit Run 30 mile LD. March 27th, 2010

Posted on March 28, 2010 at 12:25pm 1 Comment

This ride is very well run. Last year I had a blast, and this year was even better! I was taking Cosmo and he did super. I camped out in the 20* weather. It was CHILLY. I've been looking forward to getting started with Cosmo's barefoot career. The 30 mile ride was two 15 mile loops. We started at 9:00a.m. The weather warmed up to around 50*. I only sponged once on trail, and didn't have to at the holds. Cosmo was eating and drinking well. At the hold went right to the pulse takers, 58 pulse,…

Oct. 25th. Saddled up Saturn for a conditioning ride. The NJ Canal 25 mile CTR is November 1rst, and we are entered to go! I haven't competed in ANY rides since April. I am seriously in need of doing a RIDE. Since I've started using Easyboots over Saturn's front shoes, he seems much happier going down the trail. Putting them on him when I'm tacking up has become second nature, I don't think about it, I just put them on. I have taken my other horse,… Continue

What a great day in north eastern PA to get out for a conditioning ride. Humidity was low, temps were in the 80's. A nice breeze was blowing. I saddle up Cosmo to see how he handled the trail barefoot. I had his shoes pulled about 2 months back and am doing the barefoot thing with him.

He is coming along nicely, and I got some Epics for his fronts for the tougher rides. I didn't use them today as I was planning a ride on good footing. And so he would wear them down a little… Continue

Cheshire 27 mile CTR

Posted on April 20, 2009 at 10:34am 0 Comments

Cheshire CTR is held near Unionville, Pa. Just west of Philadelphia. Awesome, hunter/jumper country. Beautiful rolling hills, old-money type of farms. Big stone homes and stables. Makes me wish I lived there too. Just to have those hills to condition on would be awesome.

Anyways, I traveled the 2 hours and 20 minutes south from my home, with Saturn loaded on the trailer. I don't have an LQ trailer, or even a camper for my truck. I was sleeping in my truck for this ride. I left on Saturday… Continue

Rabbit Run 30 LD March 2009 in NJ.

What a great ride! My friend Tammy and I drove over to NJ from PA. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get there Friday afternoon. The trip went smooth. We got to the Brendon T. Byrne State Forest and Patti Pizzo hooked us up with a good parking spot. Long walk to the parks restroom facitlites. (Of course, we both had to go as soon as we got there....). Which were nice and clean, with showers! Great place to have ride camp. It's in the pine barrens, so the… Continue

O I'm going to Florida for the FITS ride in the beginning of March. Hopefully doing a 100 with my arab, and riding one of the Rojek's horses in a 50....But I'm planning on Rabbit Run with my morgan!
