About Me:

Hello to you all! I am so excited to become a part of this Endurance community! Thank you for the chance to get to know some of you.

I have been hoping to compete in my first LD/endurance ride for several years now. I have been a 'lurker' of Endurance.net and other horse riding communities for a while, hoping I could learn a lot by what others have to share.

I ride as often as the weather permits here in SW Iowa. I don't consider myself a 'fair weather rider'- rain/snow/etc, I ride! (I don't care for wind- but I'm working on that!)

I often ride alone, as no one else rides in our family. Once in a while my neighbor will ride with me/ but he's older and can't ride very far or very long.

A good friend introduced me to Mules several years ago. I've barely rode anything else since. TAZ & I have shown, I've trained her to drive, & we even dabbled a bit in foxhunting... She's all business, loves to GO!

I am new to this blogging thing- and uncertain of what to post. I will probably add more as I get more comfortable with the idea.

Using my Equine Heart Rate Monitor~

Finally have it up & running!! Now what?

I read to take a resting heart rate for 5 or so days, then average it out.

Then??? I've been riding all Winter & currently, several times a week. Anywhere from 5-10+ miles. I trot at least 5 of the miles with a lope here & there... Warming up & cooling down...

Where should the heart rates be? & How long to 'pulse down'???

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Looking for a Specialized for a friend

If there is any body out there planning on selling a used Specialized Trailmaster- 16" PLEASE forward the information to me? She tried my saddle- she & her horse loved the saddle. Poor Charlie would toss his head & buck going down hills- trying to express his discomfort under previous saddles- there was none of that with the Specialized- So, we are trying to find them one- Please email us: ezspur@msn.com THANKS!

NEED a new saddle!!! ASAP Can you help?!!

Hello to all!

Conditioning is going well- as long as the weather co operates!! ("fair weather rider" echos in my head!!)

I currently ride in a Wintec Pro Endurance saddle with CAIR & adjustable gullet- I thought I did A LOT of research before buying this saddle. It has gotten me by with TAZ- but never REALLY sure if it fit her properly.

First day of VVClassic 2009

I've been looking forward to this! Hopefully I'm not making excuses, but I don't plan on riding today. It's almost 1:30PM & it's only 3 degrees- with wind chill, it feels like minus 9! Not only is that unhealthy for me, but I don't believe the equine would have much fun in it either. So, I will have to see about tomorrow. They say it should reach 29 degrees, I'm looking forward to it!!
