We're heading into our muddy season later this month :( Most of the winter we're amazingly dry 80% of the time.

Wow, your horses have hooves! We haven't seen our horses hooves since about early Oct. Too much mud since then.

Wow. You should be so proud of this. It's an amazing accomplishment on so many levels. You should put a picture of this along with a photo of 7 the first time you saw him and have them side by side. I'm so happy for you both :) Cindy

BH 100 mile ride, 09

On Wednesday, we marked the five-six miles of canyon on the trail. This is my favorite section of the trail and I try to mark it for ride management every year. While the ride expected to have fewer folks than last year when Tevis had to cancel, it is horrible that only six people entered the 100 miler (12 in the 50 miler and three in the 25). Anyhow, the trail was gorgeous. The supper Friday night was wonderful: pulled pork with all the fixings, plus HOME MADE PIES! Sunday morning we had freshl… Continue

Global Warming, Wyoming Style :)

It snowed about 4 inches of wet, heavy snow last night and this morning. Last Saturday it was in the 80s and I thought I was having a heat stroke! Luckily, it finally warmed up to the low 40s this late this afternoon and the snow is, mostly, melted. I've been thinking of the Ft. Howe endurance riders all day cause they were out riding in this. However, from the photos Merri has up on ridecamp, it looks like they didn't get as much snow as we did. Still, you know they are cold and wet. Cindy

My Longstreet's Charge 50 mile ride

For those of you who won’t read this whole story, just let me say that if you have a chance to ride the Longstreet’s Charge 50 miler in the southeast region, you should do it. It’s a “real” endurance ride with challenging, beautiful, extremely well-marked trails, the best awards I’ve seen in years, friendly vets and a warm, hardworking ride management staff.

A little background…Angie, Jody and I have been emailing and sharing our thoughts on ridecamp for years now. However, we’d never met in pe… Continue

2/7/09 VVdoitagain ride :)

We had a wonderful ride today! The beautiful full moon was rising over the mountains to the east. It was about 39 degrees with a light wind. My friend, Sara, rode another friend's mare, Boo (Morab) since Jack is coughing. We took off close to 2 PM and made a big circle out on the BLM. Did some great "cow work" with Amara. She will now move the bulls without terror and, in fact, kind of likes it. Overall, was amazing to ride out… Continue

Thank you - I did that. I can see and view my card - I can just not enter data into it.

Thanks, it was definitely a bummer...I'm really hoping "Billy" turns out ok. I guess nothing makes you appreciate your completions like a pull at the finish.

Hi Cindy,
Most days have made it inot the 40's, some 50's & 1 or 2 30's. The wind has been slowed down here by the hills. I get blown away in the open spots, but I can also hide from it in many places. They're predicting a 2 day blizzard tomorrow & Tues, so we'll see how that goes.

Here's to hoping you have nice weather on Fri & Sat---supposed to be 40ish over here. Good luck to your kids in Jackson (if that's where you're headed).

Pretty darn cold here last night, too. I've been eyeballing the forecast for the next VV ride. looks like 40's up to Feb 5. (It only shows 10 days) Keeping fingers crossed. Hey, that Longstreet trip sounds like fun.

Hi, Cindy! Thanks for the nice comment. I'm so glad you like my stories -- they are such fun to write. Gotta take my camera more often to get photos along with the telling.

I guess you could say I am "retired" -- I left the corporate life 20 years ago to start a Mommy career... and never returned to the land of steel and glass. Foxhunting is such a rush -- but one needs a horse that will do the sport, and Itchy is good at it. We lucked out this winter with mild weather so we hunted non-stop through the season. Great way to keep myself and my ponies fit during the winter. Hunting coyote would be a riot -- they run straight, hard and fast, not in big circles like a fox.
