I am an active volunteer for the BLM Adopt a Wild Horse or Burro Program. My husband and I have a learning center located at our ranch that other volunteers can come to and learn, "hands on" how to gentle and train mustangs. I am currently owned by two mustangs, Ladybug (who I have had for 10 years) and Cricket (that I just adopted a week ago).
OK Janet, I finally figured out how to reply to email on this site. I tried to send you a note yesterday but the address I sent it to bounced, oh well, computers.
Yes Wickenburg is a cool place, a bit too cold for us as it has been freezing a few times in the last couple of days. We stay in Tonopah, warmer and flat. Miles of riding right outside the gate and in ground that is everything from sandy washes to hard pack roads with a few rocky areas too. We are headed for Mohave around the 10th of Feb. I want to get there a couple of days in advance so I can scout for places to take photos. Then back to Arizona to play at the Old Pueblo. We plan to start north around the end of March and will get to Color Country as the last ride for us in the southland.
well time to go put blankets on the boys, since we clipped them (real short) we have been keeping them warm with blankets, they seem to like it too....
Hi Janet,
Glad to hear from you. While we were out riding around the Ridgecrest area on horseback we went to the Mustang and Burro Center here. LOTS of horses here. Seemed like a lot more mares than geldings. Will you be at Mojave or Color Country this year?
Thank you for the note. I rode my mustang today and I am hoping that he will be ready for a ride next year. He still gets cranky when he thinks that we have been out too long. The next horse I get will be a "real" mustang who has lived on the range.
I hope your new mustang works out well and, knowing your record, I think that your new mustang should do very well.
