"I finished the Tevis back in '86 right behind Kharif Au-Bez in 11th place.  He was ridden by Lissa Downer and owned by a man whose name escapes me.  You can get into the Arabian Pedigree site for a fee to research his lines.  "

Doing Tevis again, etc.

Wow, its been a long time, I forgot all about this page! Guess what? I'm doing Tevis again this year for the first time in 13 years. I'm doing it on a friend's Mustang mare. Taqi is far from ready, he's not even broke yet.  Hope to have him under saddle this summer.  Just trimmed his feet yesterday.  Also put a soft bareback saddle on him and lunged him a bit.  Check out my blog "Retackling the Tevis" - judyshatir.blogspot.com.Complete with pictures.  Also check out my facebook page for more…See More

Taqi first haltering - licking and chewing

"Hi Cole, Sorry this took so long - been neglecting my page. Taqi is a Sulphur Mustang from a herd in Utah that was discovered in the late 80's. They have been DNA'ed to be almost 100% pure Spanish Conquistador horse because they were so…"

Sulphur's Nataqua

"Looks like the BLM got his age wrong, which they sometimes do. He's definitely not 3. Looks to be an '07 model, not '06 like his papers say. He is very baby-like in his mannerisms, has small teeth, etc. Darn, gotta wait another year,…"

The Mustang Diaries Part 2

Well, Sulphur's Nataqua, or Taqi as I call him is finally letting us touch him. I haven't been getting out to see him as often as I should since he's 35 windy miles away, but Pete has been spending time with him at feeding time. (Pete calls him Taco) He has been eating out of our hands and will let us scratch his neck and touch his ears. Pete has also been running his hands down his legs and feet. Speaking of which, he is very long and has some hoof that has been breaking out on the sides. I…See More

"Nice to see another fan of the Sulphur! I am sure you are well aware that not horses on the HMA are Spanish. Just a very small group of them. Most are just Mustangs. However, just because a horse has lived in the wild does not take away their…"

"Nice looking guy! Good luck with your mustang, I'm surprised there aren't more mustangs doing endurance- it seems they would be a good choice as they are used to rough terrain and most seem to have excellent feet."

The Mustang Diaries

In March I adopted a Mustang online. It wasn't just any Mustang, it was a Sulphur Mustang from a special herd in Utah. I had fallen in love with this strain a few years ago when I went to look at a Sulphur stallion for sale. They are similar to the Kigers and are 90 some percent pure original Spanish Conquistador horse. He is a silver grulla with zebra striped legs and a black mane and tail with blonde streaks. As far as I know, no one has ever competed one in endurance. I hope to be the…See More

Very cool! Do you have any pics of Felicia? People seem to have lost the pics of her.

Did you see the current video of Maximus on my youtube page?
