I'd forgotten about this ;) A much delayed update: Splash made a full recovery and we went on to do 150 more miles in the 2009 season. One two day 50 and two 50s (including an OD ride!) He is 100% sound on that hoof and we even did 20 miles barefoot…

I'm Katie. After a 4 year hiatus from distance riding I started up again this (2009) season with my horse Splash. Rode CTR for years in jr high/high school and got one season of endurance in 2005...and now we're back. I had two wonderful mentors but am going it alone now.
I live on/manage a farm in Clarksburg Maryland at a lesson barn. I am attending my 3rd college in 4 years and have switched majors 6 times. I settled on Poli Sci because it's easy, not because I enjoy it.
So basically I'm poor and overworked but I'm the luckiest girl on earth with my horse in my backyard, and 23 miles of trails right outside my back gate.

Splash's Horrible OD Adventure
It was certainly interesting....I was really looking forward to our first 50 of the season after so many years off due to injuries. Got in nice and early on Friday and Splash was super mellow, ate well, actually lay down to sleep overnight (yay!) and was feeling great at the start of the ride. Things were looking up.
