Most of you probably think of the Genesee as a dull muddy river that meanders between cropland and for the most part you would be right, But yesterday we rode upstream a little ways. Check out the photos. I also saw a bald eagle last week, cruising…

Wild ride today! Quentin is sick and I meant to ride my coming 5 year old in the small sand ring after I lunged her (It's been a while), but my son was all saddled up and wanted someone to ride out with him. So, I hopped on and went. I wish I had a…

About Me:
We live on a 550 acre farm in the Genesee Valley of New York where I raise horses, sheep and hay. In addition to endurance riding I am passionate about spinning, knitting and cross country skiing. I spend a lot of time foxhunting. Quentin, my husband of 29 years, is a veterinarian with a keen interest in veterinary accupuncture and osteopathy. He is nearly blind and paraplegic and hopes that a lot of hours in the saddle will aid in neurologic recovery

After holing up on the really cold days (highs of 15) we headed out on the Genesee valley greenway again today. We saw lots of fox and beaver tracks on the frozen canal and were passed by two hounds wearing radio collars and jingle bells, who seemed to be traveling rather than hunting. The most exciting (is that the right word?) part was crossing the Genesee on the Rt. 36 bridge at Mt. Morris. In addition to heavy traffic, there is a lowhead dam with about a ten foot drop a few feet upstream of… Continue

Learning experience

One of the reasons that I joined the VV classic was that I thought I might learn something. I figured out how to upload to motion based- which is cool. I haven't figured out how to look at every one else's rides yet and I'm not sure they can find mine. I'm learning how to use this site. I haven't gotten any photos up yet, but I've learned that that is because they are too big. Maybe tomorrow I'll brave the blind computer where the editing software is ( Don't ask why the paint shop pro is on the… Continue

Hi Quentin and Libby,

I love you stories about the Genesee Valley Greenway. Where abouts in New York is the greenway? My grandma talks about a greenway in Florida. I think she wants to move there because of the length of the trail. However, she likes the New York area too. Most of her extended family lives there. Can you give me more information to share with my grandma, D'Arcy? Thank you.

Interesting! (on the re-centering thing). I've always found it difficult to mix gaited horses & trotting horses when it comes to pacing so I would think it's somewhat better for you for it to be a trotting horse. Post photos when you can. I was going to send a friend request but can't figure out how. Josie is the "My Space" queen and she did it for me before. :-)
