After riding a handful of 25s, and 35s it was time to move up. I came in 9th place out of 70 something riders about a month ago so it was time. Gunner and I are ready after a year of training and conditioning. I had a few ups and downs, like saddl…

I tried several horses out, some old, some young, some registered, some not. I settled on a 4 1/2 yr old "unbroke" gelding. Sounds fantastic right! So the past 3 months I have been breaking and training my youngster. He had been started as a 3 yr ol…

Birthday suprise- A NEW horse trailer!

Every girls (horse girl's) dream come true is a nice horse trailer and truck to haul your horses in. At least it was my birthday wish for the past 15 years.

If you recall from my previous posts, I had a older stock gooseneck trailer that needed an upgrade. It is older, been repainted, but was still an open trailer than needed some TLC.

My precious and dear husband has heard me complain the last 3 years about how we needed a new one and all the problems it had. We shopped for weeks only to find… Continue

Sandhills Stampede- July 11th Ride

I wasn't sure I would get to go, my horse was stung on his back a few days prior to the ride. So I figured I wouldn't make it. I decided to ride that morning, which probably wasn't a good idea (on a different horse). Everything was telling me not to go, but I wanted to and I had planned for this for a long time.

That afternoon I decided I was going. My horse was ok and I was too. I got there at 5:30pm, vetted in (all A's and an A- on gut sounds- was told to make sure he drinks water). I was get… Continue

I tried several horses out, some old, some young, some registered, some not.
I settled on a 4 1/2 yr old "unbroke" gelding. Sounds fantastic right! So the past 3 months I have been breaking and training my youngster. He had been started as a 3 yr old then not riden for about a year.

Naptime at my house is 1-4 pm (sometimes stretching it til 5 if I am really busy). Perfect time to devote to training horses. I set out with my 2 baby monitors on my hip and spend some quality time with my ne… Continue

Stay at home mom's quest to be a "real" endurance rider

It all started when I was 12 yr old and I got my first horse, a purebred arabian filly. I rode that horse through highschool, college and eventually sold her to a loving family who could take care of her when I couldn't. As fate would have it, she was returned to me a few years ago and I began my trail riding and wanted something more.

I was pregnant at the time, but I still rode my mare because she was the smallest of all the horses and I figured if I fell off it wasn't too far. After all I ha… Continue
