Very cold, windy ride

Took a short (less than six miles) ride today and although the temperature was 40 degrees, it was VERY cold. The wind was just howling and a cold front was starting to move in. Keith rode Jack and I rode Amara. We had another "cow training" session with my mare. She is afraid of the bulls that winter on the… Continue

I'm going to Longstreet's Charge :)

I'm so exited! Angie, Jody, Josie and Joni are going to host our "southeast" adventure. I just bought my plane ticket, so I'm really going. Angie has plans for me to ride either Seven or a new horse she's getting this weekend. I have wanted to meet these ladies face to face and ride with them for YEARS. Dreams do come true :) Cindy in Wyoming where it's 5 degrees below zero right now

Riding Red in the deep snow - January 19, 2009

It's finally warmed up enough to get out and ride a little. Here in northern Minnesota, winter riding (if you don't have an indoor arena) is on an opportunity-only basis. The roads are generally ice & snow covered, or, if there is clear pavement, the snowbanks are so… Continue

Sunday, a spin around the trees on Stuey

With only an hour of daylight left, I rushed home to tack up Stuart. I haven't ridden this big lug in a few weeks and it shows.... in his belly :).

The view through Stuey's cute black-tipped ears that I don't see often enough these days…

Day one, Sunny & I back on the trail

Sunny had a miniscule amt of heat in his right fore after a ride a few weeks ago, so he's had some time off. Obviously I'm taking it cautious bringing him back to work, so we won't be breaking any speed records with our VV ride entry this weekend :). Turtle award aspirees... look out!

It was a glorious day, after the fog lifted this morning and the temps got above freezing. By the time I headed out to ride it was probably in the 50's… Continue

2009 VV Classic

Since I was in need of a little motivation I decided to participate in this virtual ride. Well, it worked! Yesterday it was 29 degrees with a stiff wind and there I was riding out on the trail! Got a little over 8 miles in on Blue and we had a blast! One thing I realized as the wind was whipping and things were blowing around was how far Blue and I have come as a team especially since doing a couple of 100s last year. In the past I wouldn't have made it out of the yard on this spooky Arab of… Continue

Welcome To Friday

Nancy's path.kmzFriday is the first day of the weekend in Egypt so it's the first day of my heavy working days. My first set of clients today were a couple of high school girls who come to ride every weekend. Neither of them are the most courageous riders, although Nancy rides one of my more difficult horses, Dooby. We did an easy round along… Continue

Gimps and Newbies

Having recently pulled a muscle in my leg, I decided to introduce Hannah to VV endurance with a really "easy" ride. Well, at least in terms of speed. We went out and walked for almost two and a half hours because I couldn't handle anything faster without causing more damage to the already sore spot. We… Continue

First day of VVClassic 2009

I've been looking forward to this! Hopefully I'm not making excuses, but I don't plan on riding today. It's almost 1:30PM & it's only 3 degrees- with wind chill, it feels like minus 9! Not only is that unhealthy for me, but I don't believe the equine would have much fun in it either. So, I will have to see about tomorrow. They say it should reach 29 degrees, I'm looking forward to it!!

Good luck to all the others, I admire your gutts if you're braving such temps! Look forward to… Continue
