Thanksgiving

This is the time of year we all reflect on what we are most thankful for in our lives. I have given this a lot of thought this year. With the economic depression the world is experiencing at epidemic propotions is hard to know where our industry will be in a year from now. With that in mind I have made significant changes at my ranch.

First, I have downsized by 12 horses and have continued to downsize quite aggressively. Most of my horses have been placed in handicapped riding…

Beautiful sunny day. Couldn't get any body to ride with me.=( Asked Amy, Julie, Sarah, Joel and DeeDee. Oh well. Had fun with out em! First thing I did was take the shovel and wheel barrow and scooped up water and wheeled it out of my round pen until it was useable. I also ordered a 80'x80' tarp for 482$ so I can wrap my round pen like a christmas gift and not have to scoop anymore. =)

We're finally reaching a point that we can take the fuzzballs out and do an endurance ride. He is so tender on the gravel on our roads. Snort, G Ray and Ghost all just truck along no matter what the surface. Dude is still ouchy on rocks.

The great boot search…

My 100 Mile Experience - Run for the Ridge, Sept. 20, 2008

It's always been my goal to get Magic to complete a 100. Our first attempt was not successful unfortunately. I think we were ready but I'm afraid I didn't ride her to her potential. I tried to "save" too much horse by riding significanlty slower than I do normally. We ended up riding 95% at a trot instead of varying her gait. I think this was the overall cause of our pull. Her metabolics were great thoughtout the day, she pulsed down each check within a few minutes and without removing the…
