We are new to the breeding business and so any advice would definitely be appriciated. I am also a new rider to the endurance scene. I have conditioned them for others and of course I spent many an hour in the saddle with my mares and one gelding. I've been riding all my life mainly on Mustangs and Arabs. My uncle was a mustang man for 40 years rounding them up in eastern Oregon so obtaining a horse was never a problem. Just because I am a very experienced rider doesn't mean I know anything…Continue
I live in the middle of the woods, so there isn't really any space to ride on my property. When I want to ride for any length my only option is to take the horses out on the back roads around my house. Now this wouldn't be a problem except for that the most recent time I have ridden out there was the first real ride outside of the yard for my young stallion. Everything was going well, he is a dream to ride and was ripping up the trail like we do it every day, crossing water etc like an old…Continue
1. Watch Others: Watching other riders can help you differentiate between good and bad posture. Humans are usually visual learners and you'd be surprised how much you can learn by watching good riders at work. Make an effort to attend a riding lesson and listen to what the riding instructor is saying, you can pick up…Continue

I got a new horse (yea), and need some clothes for her. My big mare uses a Big D blanket, and I like the fit of it. But, she weights 1100 pounds, and wears an 82. My new girl is a purebred arab. Could anyone please comment on what your thoughts are as far as brands of blankets for arab's?

We finally did it - after a several year hiatus, and buying my (much too young for me) next endurance prospect, DB Hula Mayya, and waiting for her to mature and finish her training, we bit the bullet and entered and FINISHED our first endurance (well, just Limited Distance) ride. Eep! How did this happen?
Of course I didn't do…Continue

Friends, I just can't face talking anymore on the phone right now and so I am sharing with you what happened to my beloved 11 year old gelding Jack. This is the note I sent to his breeder in Utah and it will save me from breaking down while I try to tell you about it on the phone or in person. I know, as you do, that time heals and someday I'll only remember the great memories this fine animal gave to me, Keith and many of our friends. Right now, I am… Continue

After riding a handful of 25s, and 35s it was time to move up. I came in 9th place out of 70 something riders about a month ago so it was time.
Gunner and I are ready after a year of training and conditioning. I had a few ups and downs, like saddle fitting and finding a bit. I was using a short-s hackamore but really found I need to bump it up stronger for the first loop. However, I wasn't able to use my new myler combo bit because my…Continue
