Foxcatcher

Well it was a very interesting weekend and didn't go exactly as planned but nonetheless a very good weekend.

I arrived Friday morning (Dad and Mom had driven up Thursday morning). We tacked up and went for a ride. A few days earlier Kirah had gotten a cut on her right front, it was a pretty good size cut, but it had already scabbed over and we figured she would be just fine. Alas, she was a ridiculous handul on the short ride. When we went to vet in, she was really lame, we talked it o…

No Frills

Friday we arrived to base camp at a little after 1. I was to be bunking with Dana and SueAnn with Dad arriving on Saturday morning. We had plenty of time to set the pens up for the horses and get checked in.

We headed over to vet in. I recruited Pat to vet in Moniet for Dad. We had to walk up a hill to the vet in area, Kirah was worried and excited, hence her pulse was at 96 after our trek up the hill. It quickly came down to 44, and we vetted in just fine.

There was to be no cr…

Good luck at No frills!!! I'm sorry to hear about Tarsu! Hope he's okay. As for the "SUICIDE" 100 as steven calls it, lol, that is my goal! Our first 50 went pretty well. I'm sort of in a money dillemma so using hoof boots. Rikka did the 50 at MLM barefoot. I will probably boot her for foxcatcher, then foam on ez boots if i do the michaux 100. I'll make my decision after the foxcatcher, she seems fitter than ever, so who knows!!!

Steven mentioned that you guys didn't make it to MLM because your truck broke down. Hope all is okay. Too bad you missed the ride. It was COLD/WINDY/WET. ughh But my mare and finished in 7th place and she was barefoot. You gonna ride the michaux 100?

I don't think the average Endurance Rider has IV supplies at hand.
Nor do most have IV drugs on hand. I personally do have Bute paste
now. Nearly every Endurance Rider I know has a first aid kit at some
level or another.

Bare necessities for me are: Vet Wrap, ice wraps, bandage (usually a
kotex) for bleeding, polo wraps. All of this I can carry on the
saddle have in the trailer.
