Hi Bayrab, I am very interested in this topic and glad to see it being discussed. While I don't seem to be able to do it myself, I do think some folks can communicate with horses and other animals.... Read More »

Training Ivan to be Great! June 2008

June 2, 2008:

We just worked on horsey feet all weekend. Kazi is sporting her new front feet and has been told she has to exercise to build up her circulation. So today we ran her, Daisy and Ivan around the arena. Poor Daisy cannot keep up with the two Arabs and got to stop the soonest. Kazi has a limp, but not too bad, so she had to keep on trotting and cantering, whichever she wanted to do. Ivan flew. Before we let him into the arena, he galloped around the outside whi…

Training Ivan to be Great! May 2008

We are PREGNANT!! Meet SPECK!

We arrived at Va Tech a few minutes early and they took us right in. Kazi was ultrasounded first, then her uterus was flushed. The liquid flushed was drained thru a very fine screen and the vet looked at the screen in a microscope for what seemed like forever. He said he didn't see anything on the first pass....and I stood next to Kazi…

Training Ivan to be Great! April 2008

April 5:

April started out pretty wet and cold, we have had quite a bit of rain, so Ivan and I didn't do much until today. Looking back at what he has learned in the past month, I am quite pleased with how he is doing. It won't be long before I will be crawling up on his back. And today he walked up to me in the pasture wanting attention and petting and was in no rush to get away from me!! A first!…

Training Ivan to be Great! March 2008

This blog is about my attempts at training my horses, specifically Ivan. The first horse I ever trained by myself was my Arabian mare, Kazi, now 16 years old. She has been having problems with founder and has been lame off and on for almost a year, so when Ivan became available, I took him on for a period of time to see if there was any hope of my training a fairly wild young horse. He is doing pretty well, so we bought him. Our horses here are Kazi, my mare, Daisy: Donnie, my husband's 5 y…

I don't think the average Endurance Rider has IV supplies at hand.
Nor do most have IV drugs on hand. I personally do have Bute paste
now. Nearly every Endurance Rider I know has a first aid kit at some
level or another.

Bare necessities for me are: Vet Wrap, ice wraps, bandage (usually a
kotex) for bleeding, polo wraps. All of this I can carry on the
saddle have in the trailer.
