Trail Horse for sale

Moose is really a nice guy. He will go anywhere and anyone can ride him. He has moved cows. He's been on all kinds of trails. He'll load, clip, bathe, shoe whatever else you want to do with him.

No pressure from here. Just get to it whenever is good for you. This little guy has done a bit of moving around in his short life so far. I just wonder what he thinks of it all. I probably don't wa... Read More »

Big Horn '08 by: Noodle

Hee Haw, I'm Noodle & this is my story:

It started at the Shamrock ride a couple of weeks ago. Mom brought my sister Nellie & I to see who she wanted to take to the Big Horn. I didn't know then what I was getting myself into. Nellie always told me,…

Wild, Crazy Day

Well, the wind has been whipping & then gusting even faster. Wow!

I need to keep an eye on my old mare, she appears to be in foal from accidental breeding last year. Didn't figure the old girl still had it in her. Either there's a foal in there movin around or it's an alien. :o) That said, I 've been keeping Denny up in the lot with Hoppy so I could ride him to gather the herd. Easier said than done. The first attempt a couple days ago ended with him spending the day in the horse t…

What Hoppy has taught me about starting range colts vs Michigan colts

About Hoppy: 5-6 year old, occasionally caught, mostly wild. Just gelded last year. Very independant.

WY-First off, don't take the halter off, even in a 40' round pen. (It took me 3 days & shrinking the round pen down to a stall.) In fact, it's a good idea to let them drag a lead for a few days. MI-Everything that came to me in Mi had been handled-for better or worse.

WY-Yes' a 5 1/2 yr old can live that long without ever having his feet picked up. MI-Mares & foals are k…

On our way back from Chicken Chase. First ride of the season & Dancer just realized he's not in Kansas anymore (or on the NE Indiana flatlands)! Poor guy - he is still furry, but did a great job for me anyway. Hope to see you soon.

Alright, I had to change my pic. I'm sick of seeing snow. Need some warmer thoughts. This is one Don Yaw took during the Big Horn last year. It was definately warmer than wind chills in the teens then. :o)

Well, we had a good 3 days...I knew rotten weather was coming so got very busy. I imagine they'll start getting a lot harder to get now. Also...was between basketball and baseball season. First game is Mon. :-P

Yep, I noticed you just rode one. I plan to cheat and ride 3 in our rematch >eg< 22 miles was as far as 7's ever gone. Wouldn't have wanted to do more than that on him in 3 days. Gunner's coming back from an injury so 9 was plenty for him. But then there's ol' Kaboot in the wings.... :-))

Holls is doing good... not sure if the surgery is going to do anything for his leg, but he is pretty much back to his old self less the massive bandage on his left knee.
Sorry to head bout Ripley.
So I may have a home for Misty up here... I was talking to one of the gals at work, and her daughter need a 4-H horse for this summer, and is interested in Misty.. still figuring out how and when i'd get her up back up here...

So far he's been perfecting wallowing in self pity.. He actually had to go back in to the vets today as some of his stitches ripped out and the plate and screws were just "out there". He's slowly cheering up, but then I go and poke him to give him penpro and shoot him with bute and he hates the world again.. I do like being able tyo see him every day, he's such a good little chap... here;s to hoping everything works

YAY!! So I picked up Holls this morning... he's good, a little banged up as he tried to stand up right after waking up from anethesia. Smart one.. hes really stiff and sore, but he's staying at a friends house on the way to work and back, so it'll be easy to check on him every day and hand walk him til he gets better . Here's to hoping the surgery works.

MT is amazing... I do miss Newcastle though... We've been getting TONS of snow which has been nice, but lately the wind has been blowing it all away. Holls went into surgery yesterday and has been doing fine.. Gave himself a little owie on the head when trying to get up, but otherwise doing great. Hows my precious girl doing? give her a kiss for me and tell I miss her :) Miss you guys-

Sadly, I pulled for being over-time at the last vet check on Tevis in 1991. I'd really like to say that I finished it and have a buckle, but it is so much work and so darn hard to crew...so hot, so dusty, so crowded, etc. Maybe someday I'll get inspired :) Until then, my goal is to get 10 BH buckles before I die. I have seven buckles now. Cindy

I don't think the average Endurance Rider has IV supplies at hand.
Nor do most have IV drugs on hand. I personally do have Bute paste
now. Nearly every Endurance Rider I know has a first aid kit at some
level or another.

Bare necessities for me are: Vet Wrap, ice wraps, bandage (usually a
kotex) for bleeding, polo wraps. All of this I can carry on the
saddle have in the trailer.
