Hi Kevin,

I was wondering, of the 4,475 endurance miles you have completed so far, how many of those miles were in the Specialized Saddle?

Oh my goodness the Land of the Sun ride must have been great. I loved you recount of the ride in your blog. Great story and pics.

Heated tack room hmmm.... I could just attach a tack room onto my house with a grooming area to tack up! I looked at a facility a number of years ago, in Salinas, CA, that had a heated tack room. It was great!! I have friends in FL that have air conditioned tack rooms. I have also been to facilities in FL that don't have AC for the tack area. Eccckkkkkiieee mold smile and mold on the tack. AWFUL! So, heated and air conditioned tack room. And to keep it green...solar powered! :)

I am going to try to do the Shine and Shine Only mid February. It will just be a 25 mile for Valentina but a good jump off point for us both. I am also taking a junior rider with me so that will be a good starting point for her as well. Not to mention two other riders that can't imagine doing a 25 mile ride and are looking forward to doing so. :_) I'll keep everyone posted on how that all turns out.

Valentina is a great mare. She loves to work and looks for me everyday to come out the side door of my house. If I don't go straight to get her she tosses her head and calls me. So, that is half the battle, isn't it, a horse that LOVES to ride!

That is good information. I have two horses that are 16+ hands and wondered what I would do with a saddle for the shorter horses. Getting a couple of them would make more sense. I'd actually like to have each horse have their own saddle. That will have to wait until this ranch sells and I get moved.

Kevin, do you find that climate alters the work and performance of the saddle at all? I am wondering if there are changes in the saddle in humid vs drier conditions.

I saw the bucking rolls. I was trying to imagine when I would need them. And, of course, the younger horses might require that kind of protection. Actually, Samburu KA, at 27, sometimes gives me a problem when he is done working and doesn't want to take another step. :_)

Where is your next ride going to be Kevin?

Hi Kevin,

I noticed that you have a Specialized saddle listed as your favorite saddle. I have been looking into these saddles. Could you tell me what it is about the Specialized saddle that you enjoy so much? Also, what is the size of your horse that the saddle is on? Any information that you have would be greatly appreciated.

I have contacted the company. They will be sending a video. They will also be at AERC Convention. So, I'd like to get through as much of the preliminary research that I can. Thank you, in advance, for any information that you can provide.

Hi Kevin, Did you sell your Argonaut Boy? That is Rhett another Argonaut Boy in this picture. We had lots of wild rides together. Please forgive me I am a newbie at this and you have lots of interesting stuff on your page. I'll have to work on mine since it is snowing hard outside :-) We are jealous you get to see the sun! Hey Kevin,
Are you going to the El Paso to Las Cruces ride or holding out for Wickenburg?

Bonjour Kevin,
Une très bonne année pour toi :-) Tu as certainement appris le décès de Maurice Béjart qui était un peu belge de coeur puisqu'il a fait ses armes à Bruxelles.
On se revoit peut-être en Mai chez Steph...

I don't think the average Endurance Rider has IV supplies at hand.
Nor do most have IV drugs on hand. I personally do have Bute paste
now. Nearly every Endurance Rider I know has a first aid kit at some
level or another.

Bare necessities for me are: Vet Wrap, ice wraps, bandage (usually a
kotex) for bleeding, polo wraps. All of this I can carry on the
saddle have in the trailer.
